There are routine checkups conducted regularly, such as keeping the tire inflated properly, making sure fluid levels, including engine oil, radiator fluid, screenwash, and power steering fluid, are sufficient. Some preventive maintenance checks and car repairs, however, need to be recorded or logged as they are required in claiming of warranty and auto service contracts.
There have been instances when car owners would waste money in purchasing car parts, such as batteries, that would have otherwise been covered by warranty.
Service contracts necessitate keeping records or receipts of regular maintenance as it needs to be proven that the owner has been taking care of his vehicle. If the claimant cannot show that he has done his part, the service contract may be voided.

Keeping track of maintenance records and making sure they are up-to-date should not have to be difficult, as various techniques could help vehicle owners; physical means, such as a sticker system or printed spreadsheets to technologically advanced ones, including digital logs or smartphone apps.
